List of suggested activities

This is a list of some activities you might wish to try that may help you to return to your “center.”  Just something to glance at once in a while to see if any of them draw you. Add to the list as you make your own discoveries.

Keep a book at your bedside, perhaps something from the reading list. Reading something gentle before you sleep can enhance your rest.

Place a sticker(s) with the word BREATHE on it in a place(s) where you will see it several times a day. When you notice it stop, take a deep breath or two, and be present for whatever experience you’re having right now.

Take the time to listen to other people. Be honestly interested in what the world and life is like for them.

Turn on your favorite music and dance. By yourself or with anyone else who’s willing. Smile when you do. Enjoy feeling the movement of your graceful body.

Sit or stand in front of a mirror. Really look at this human being with an attitude of curiosity, wonder, respect. Feel what it might feel like to look without judgment, but with joyful acceptance. Just as you are.

Offer yourself the gift of some time with nature. Look, listen, smell, feel.

Practice random acts of kindness. When no one knows. From your heart. With love. Not because you should, or to be a better person, but because it nurtures you.

Offer your blessing to someone. (Hold them gently in your heart for a moment.) If it comes from your heart, it is always receive. Always. It will enrich both of you. Offer it to yourself.

In the middle of an argument, STOP… open the door to “I may be wrong!”..and seek to really understand the other person’s point of view. It can be liberating.

Hold your opinions and beliefs lightly. Learning begins by considering something new.

Make plenty of space in your life for laughter. Laugh at every opportunity. Especially at yourself!

Care for your body. Practice loving and accepting it, just as it is. Take a nap, get a massage, eat foods that nurture you, practice some form of exercise that draws you and feels good to your body.

Make a list of all the things you SHOULD do (including anything on this list.) Then burn it. Even make it a ceremony. Do it often.

Make a list of all the people in your life who truly nurture you. One at a time, bless them, write them, call them, invite them. You need them, and they need you.

When something or someone calls your spirit, follow. Not as a followER, but as a fellow traveler.

Seek the places in your world and in your heart where tenderness lives.

Add to this list as you discover things which work for you. Share it with others.
